To see the beings within the void, to look at ourselves and our world from a distance, and to attune with the cosmos… In other words, to balance chaos (disorder) with its opposite, the cosmos (order)…

To see the void and our place within it, to rethink light and darkness, to distinguish the source from the reflector, to rediscover boundaries within infinity… To grow and expand instead of shrinking… Most importantly, to grasp the relationship between chaos and cosmos the greatest of opposing forces that give rise to one another and to find our place in the universe, to attune and to find balance. This is the inspiration behind Asteria. In Greek mythology, Asteria is the daughter of Koios (intellect) and Phoebe (wisdom), and the only sister of Leto, the mother of Apollo and Artemis. Meaning “of the stars” or “coming from the stars,” Asteria represents prophecy, wisdom, and astrology. She is regarded as the goddess of space and the cosmos. With this collection named after Asteria, we invite you on a new journey perhaps within yourself, perhaps into a vast void far beyond our perceptions…

The Mesele Behind It:

You’ve surely heard Carl Edward Sagan’s famous line, “We are all made of star stuff.” But what does that really mean? In the observable universe, every 10 seconds a massive star dies in a supernova explosion. As a result of this death, tiny particles spread into space stardust which form the fundamental material of the Earth and all living beings on it. In fact, roughly speaking, about 40% of the atoms in the human body by number, and about 93% by mass, can be said to be stardust. Without diving too deep into molecular biology and chemistry, if we’ve clearly established our connection with the universe, let’s wrap it up: as Aristotle said, if the whole of you is more than the tiny star fragments within you—then if you’re not a shining star, what are you?
