A Matter of Elements in Nature

Our ancestors believed that there were 4 elements which led humanity to transition from chaos to a settled life. These elements are fire, earth, water and air. Scientist have examined these four elements in four states: solid, liquid, gas and plasma. Alchemy describes the four elements as blood fire, body earth, emotional water, breathing air, and a fifth element described as the elements of the human spirit. While the explanations for these elements have differed over time, their importance has remained a constant. Fire is the feeling which brings out the strength within us. It is love, red, masculinity, courage, and leadership. It carries both the power for enlightenment and destruction.

Our ancestors believed that human beings consisted of these 4 elements, and that illnesses and differences in behavior originated from these elements. You get the idea: If you have no patience to do anything, if you want to just sit around like a potato, then just throw yourself into the fire. And remember, where there is smoke, there is fire.
