Since 2013, Mesele has been producing all of its products in line with the principles of ‘Slow Design’ and has been encouraging to consume with same understanding. Mesele proudly stands as Turkey's first Slow Design brand.

So, what is Slow Design?

Slow Design is a movement inspired by regional culture and local production. It involves a long production process due to its attention to the finest details, supports traditional craftsmanship, aligns with the rhythm of nature, has long-term impact, and most importantly, aims to create a positive emotional response in the buyer. Emerging in Italy in 1989 as a reaction to Fast Food, followed by similar trends like ‘Slow City’ and ‘Slow Fashion’, Slow Design is also a response to the fast-paced modern world. Today, the term 'Slow Design' is even found in dictionaries and has six key principles in the literature:

To INSPIRE the revival of overlooked craftsmanship, lost materials, and production processes.

To EXPAND the potential of objects by creating new uses beyond their conventional functions.

To SHARE through open-source platforms, collaboration, and transparent processes to ensure continuous evolution of design.

To take each production step with greater thought and to ENCOURAGE DEEPER REFLECTION in consumers during the act of consumption.

To foster PARTICIPATION by encouraging consumers to act with a sense of social responsibility.

To recognize that meaningful design IMPROVES both the environment and the system, and to become an agent of behavioral change beyond merely meeting daily needs.
