The Matter of the Sun in Shamans
Shamanism based on the belief in Tengri, which dates to the Stone Age is a religious cult that shapes Turkish Communities. The sun, which is highly respected in shamanism and Turkish cultures and considered as the 'life-giving' was engraved on stones with disc and spiral forms and was frequently used in shaman drums and clothes. Recently, 800-year-old spiral solar petroglyphs have been discovered on cave walls, where the sun shines on them only during equinoxes. In Turkish culture, even the direction where the sun rises is considered sacred, therefore the inn tents and the doors of the houses always face east. In the meantime, let us also mention that the word Kün and Küneş is the oldest sun discourse that has remained to the present day.
